ABOUT.

Let me help you to get to know me. I am a freelance photographer based in beautiful Hamburg, Germany. I found my enduring passion for photography back in 2006. This website is up and running since late 2015. Visiting new countries and regions is what I enjoy the most. So far I have been to about 45 countries. But my bucket list holds many more places that I want to explore within the next years. My day job is at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

A Sabbatical to reset my focus

Together with my lovely wife we took a six month sabbatical between 2019 and 2020. We travelled the world for three months (Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Hawai'i) and spent two months in South Africa. We are thankful to have finished the trip perfectly in time when Covid-19 hit the world. During these six months I was able to photograph lots of stunning places and had a few photo jobs along the way.

My side business

2019 was also the year that I officially set up a side business for photography. Jens Assmann Photography is now a licensed German company and I am in the process of growing this business.

My Photography

Photography is not about one single genre for me. I love the variety of it and switching between them. But if I had to focus on a genre it would be Landscape and Travel Photography. I studied geography and am always up for vast untouched landscapes, volcanoes, glaciers, mountains and dramatic seascapes. Iceland and New Zealand are very high on my alltime favorites list. I love being outdoors and a good hike. Seeing some wildlife when out and about makes my day. The every day life and different cultures with their way of living is what I try to capture with my Street Photography.
